This was a lot of fun. Lots of people strolling around in period costumes, sword fighting, mule riding, and jousting. No Easter eggs at this market; just a lot of fun! We toured through the castle and the market and had a traditional German Bratwurst on a Brotchen! Yummy. From afar, the Ronneburg Castle greets its numerous visitors with its imposing silhouette. The 13th-century castle is one of the few hill forts preserved in its original condition. It is embedded in charming landscape and yet centrally located just outside Frankfurt on the Main. Especially worth seeing are the 96 m deep well with its pedal bike, the 32 m high keep as well as the historic castle kitchen. Ronneburg occupies a special position in the series of fortified castles of the "Imperial Wetterau" initiated by the Hohenstaufen kings at the beginning of the 13th century. The name "Roneberg" indicated a mountain fortified with "Ronen" - old tree trunks. Another terrific castle experience. And to think, when we first got here Don said, "I just want to see a castle." LOL. Now we have toured several and seen countless on the roadside and riversides. The potty is for you GOT fans to remember Tyrion and Tywin!
