March 3 started our journey here in Wiesbaden with the Fasching Parade.

On Carnival Sunday, March 3, the Wiesbaden Carnival Parade, which is famous far beyond the city limits, awaits spectators. As a grand old tradition, it starts at 1:11 p.m. on the Elsässer Platz. From there, the parade makes its way through the centre of the city past the town hall and thousands of merrymakers lining the streets. The partying goes on in Wiesbaden long after the parade is over. The high-spirited carnival atmosphere in the bars and pubs lasts until the early hours of the morning.
It was all over on March 6 and the merrymakers returned the keys of the town hall to the Lord Mayer, Sven Gerich.
We walked downtown for the parade (a 25 minute walk from our flat) and enjoyed the day full of parade and festivities and caught candy and other trinkets that were thrown from the floats. A great way for us to be welcomed to Wiesbaden, Germany!!
